Over 6.5 lakh pucca houses granted to Odisha have been returned!
Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik informed the Odisha Assembly that the state had to return 6,56,945 pucca houses allocated by the Union government between 2016 and 2024 because the previous BJD government failed to provide a list of eligible beneficiaries. Out of the total 42,18,364 houses granted by the Union government, 36,57,847 have been completed, and 5,27,604 are still under construction.

Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik informed on Tuesday that 6,56,945 pucca houses allocated to Odisha by the Union government between 2016 and 2024 have been returned.

While responding to a question from MLA Manas Dutta in the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday, Naik explained that the granted houses were returned because the previous BJD government failed to provide a list of eligible beneficiaries.

The Union government has so far granted a total of 42, 18, 364 houses to Odisha. As many as 36, 57, 847 houses have been completed from 2014 till date,” said the Minister.
"While 5,27,604 houses are under construction, the construction of 32,913 granted houses has not started yet. Additionally, 1,26,719 families have applied for the houses," he added.
