Early Arrival of Southwest Monsoon in Odisha and Kerala

The monsoon in Odisha, initially forecasted to arrive four days later, unexpectedly touched down today. This early onset brings significant relief from the scorching summer heat and promises to rejuvenate water bodies and farmlands. However, the sudden arrival also highlights the need for quick adaptation and preparedness to manage potential challenges and ensure community safety.

The Bhubaneswar regional center of the IMD announced on Saturday that the Southwest Monsoon has reached Odisha four days earlier than expected.

Currently, the monsoon has advanced into certain areas of Malkangiri district in Odisha.

The Southwest Monsoon arrived in Kerala on June 5. It has progressed across the entire southern Arabian Sea, portions of the central Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, parts of coastal and southern interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and some areas of the Bay of Bengal.
