PM-KISAN's 17th Installment: Enhancing Agricultural Success in India!
Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the release of the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme at the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan in Varanasi. This installment saw Rs 20,000 crore being transferred to the accounts of over 9.26 crore farmers.

Additionally, the Prime Minister distributed certificates to more than 30,000 self-help groups (SHGs) trained as Krishi Sakhis, who will serve as para-extension workers.

According to official data, over Rs 3.04 lakh crore has already been disbursed to the accounts of more than 11 crore farmers nationwide. With this 17th installment, the total amount transferred to beneficiaries since the scheme's inception will exceed Rs 3.24 lakh crore.

Largest Direct Benefit Transfer schemes:-
This program stands as one of the largest Direct Benefit Transfer schemes globally, utilizing digital platforms to ensure transparent enrolment and direct transfer of welfare funds to farmers.

PM-KISAN has reduced dependency on moneylenders and promoted sustainable farming methods.

By removing intermediaries, the scheme guarantees that equitable support is provided to all farmers, representing a major advancement in agricultural empowerment and financial inclusion.

Example of Cooperative Federalism:-
The scheme exemplifies cooperative federalism, with states responsible for registering and verifying farmers' eligibility while the central government provides full funding.

Notably, at least one in four beneficiaries is a woman farmer, and over 85 percent of the beneficiaries are small and marginal farmers.

Technology for Transparency:-
Under PM-KISAN, a farmer-centric digital infrastructure has been created to ensure benefits reach farmers nationwide without middlemen.

The PM-KISAN portal integrates with UIDAI, PFMS, NPCI, and the Income Tax Department. States, Union Territories, and other stakeholders are onboarded to provide quick services.

Farmers can register grievances on the PM-KISAN portal, use a 24×7 call facility, and access 'Kisan e-Mitra,' a voice-based AI chatbot available in 11 languages, for real-time query resolution.

Achievements and Accolades:-
The release of PM-Kisan's 17th installment will push total disbursements to over Rs 3.24 lakh crore. Notably, Rs 1.75 lakh crore was swiftly transferred to farmers during the Covid-19 pandemic, providing crucial direct cash support when it was most needed.

Over the last five years, PM-Kisan has garnered acclaim for its robust vision and efficient execution, earning praise from global entities like the World Bank. A study by the International Food Policy Research Institute underscores this success, revealing that the majority of farmers in Uttar Pradesh received their PM-Kisan benefits without any leakage, highlighting the scheme's effectiveness in direct fund delivery.
